Meet John Zimdars

John C. Zimdars, Jr. is president of The Zimdars Company, Inc., a third generation independent life insurance consulting firm, based in Madison, Wisconsin since 1946. John has specialized in business continuation and personal estate planning for over 40 years. His clients include individuals, closely-held businesses and professional practices. Lynne Keppler and Vicki Rodgerson complete The Zimdars Company, Inc. team. They have combined experience of over 60 years with The Zimdars Company and our clients. Find information on our consultative approach, including helpful videos on a variety of life insurance topics, under Tutorial Videos in our website’s Resource Center.

John has consistently been innovative to serve his clients. He has developed the Life Insurance Portfolio Management System to evaluate and monitor life insurance policies. Additional reference information on life insurance policy management, and The Zimdars Company, Inc., is also available in our website’s Resource Center under Portfolio Management. John has worked with his broker dealer, Valmark Securities, Inc., to develop the Professional Life Settlement Solution.  A life settlement is the sale of an unneeded life insurance policy. It can be a valuable alternative if the settlement value exceeds the cash value being exchanged or that would be realized at life insurance policy surrender.

In addition, John has worked with Valmark Securities, Inc. to implement a unique insurability determination process, the Confidential Comprehensive Insurability Program. This unique process allows clients to have their insurability determined very accurately without any official records submitted to insurance companies. This “off-the-record” process includes a brief physical exam and keeps client health history totally confidential. When the insurability determination process is completed, the client can make the decision to proceed with a formal life insurance application, knowing the cost of the life insurance and the most favorable insurance company.

John has an undergraduate degree in business from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He earned his Chartered Life Underwriter® (CLU®) designation, his Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®) designation, and a Master of Sciences in Financial Services (MsFS) from the American College. John has made presentations to the State Bar of Wisconsin and numerous other professional organizations on trends and issues within the life insurance industry.

John’s volunteer commitments include Wisconsin Lutheran Chapel and Student Center, a campus ministry at the UW-Madison, where he has served in a variety of capacities for over 35 years. He served four terms on the Board of Regents of Wisconsin Lutheran College, Milwaukee, Wisconsin and was Chairman of the Board for four years. In addition, he has served or is serving on the following boards: Madison Rotary Club, Madison Symphony Orchestra, Madison Club Finance Committee, Dane County United Way Foundation, Badger Chapter of the American Red Cross, Madison Estate Council, Madison CLU Chapter, Manulife Financial U.S. Advisory Board, Wisconsin Planned Giving Council, UW-Madison School of Business Family Business Center Advisory Board, Ephraim Foundation Heritage Fund, Bethesda Lutheran Foundation, Time of Grace Media Ministry, and Siebert Lutheran Foundation.
